Whitney Beck is an Animal Sciences major from Wauseon, OH. While at OSU, Whiney has been active in Towers Agricultural Honorary, Saddle and Sirloin, Buckeye Dairy Club, Campus Crusade for Christ, Scarlet and Gray Ag Day and Ag Ed Society. She was a member of the Dairy Judging Team and has served on the CFAES Annual Recognition Banquet as a Subcommittee Chairman. Additionally, Whitney currently serves as the President of Towers Agricultural Honorary. Over the past three years, Whitney has stayed busy by going on a 10 day study tour of Ireland with the Buckeye Dairy Club, assisting with research in dairy cattle nutrition and interning with Elanco Animal Health for which she traveled to Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota and Nebraska. She also interned with The Maschhoffs, Inc., where she developed training resources for swine producers in Illinois and Iowa.
What Whitney Wants to Say
Size of OSU: At first it seems like a huge university, but once you get involved in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, you feel like you are in a small community where everyone cares about everyone. Our professors are always willing to take the time to help students in class work or as advisors. As a large university, OSU gives you more opportunities than a smaller college. It also offers a variety of ways to be involved and make your college experience a great one.
Quality of Academics: The professors in the College of Food , Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences are some of the best in their fields. They are constantly doing research and know the newest information. The faculty cares and wants to help you to have an outstanding college experience to prepare you for your desired career choice.
Advice for Freshmen: Go to class, make new friends, and get involved right away! It’s important to make the most of your years at OSU, and doing these three things will help guarantee a great college career.
Why OSU: The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences is one of the best of its kind. It has great professors, advisors, and programs that will ensure that you receive a great college experience. The CFAES offers a small campus feel and outstanding opportunities through student organizations. As a whole, OSU simply offers more opportunities in internships, study abroad trips and activities than many other colleges.
Getting involved: Get involved right away. Be active in student organizations in your major along with those that simply interest you. By getting involved when you are a freshman, you will have great opportunities and have a lot more fun at college!
