* Experimental glandular-haired varieties, performance of experimental seed lots may not be identical to that of commercially available seedlots.
# Check varieties, Non potato leafhopper resistant.
( -a) varieties have not been named as of publication date.
** Spring Vigor rated from 1 = least growth to 5 = most growth.
*** PLH Injury from 1= little or no stunting and yellowing to 9 = severe stunting and yellowing. Only data from untreated plots are shown, because insecticide effectively eliminated stunting and yellowing in treated plots due to PLH control.
Date seeded:05/20/96
Establishment:Seeded with a Carter cone seeder at 16 lb/a. All seed treated with Apron. 2 lb/a of Boron was applied on 8/8/96.
Plot size:5' x 18', RCBD with four reps, 10' alleys and borders.
Harvest area:3' x 14.5'
Soil type and status:Crosby silt loam,pH = 7.0, P = 660 lb/a, K = 440 lb/a (10/97).
Fertilization:Fall application of 50 lb/a of 0-46-0 and 500 lb/a of 0-0-60.
1997 Pest control:In treated plots, insecticide (trt) was applied on 20 June, 28 July, 26 August for PLH control. Untreated (untrt) plots were never sprayed. Herbicide was applied on 18 July and 14 August for weed control.
