PP703 - Agricultural Genomics: Principles and Applications

Instructors: Guo-Liang Wang and Eric Stockinger

Course schedule

Course Description:

Plant Pathology 703: Agricultural Genomics: Principles and Applications

Biology has entered the era of genomics as large volumes of DNA sequence and gene expression data rapidly accumulates in public databases. Many plant, animal, and microbial genome sequences have been completed. Many more will soon be completed. Completed genome sequences in combination with “next generation” sequencing technologies make sequencing of your favorite genotypes possible. How to use and apply genomics and bioinformatics tools in agriculture will be a major challenge for all new biotechnologists and biologists. In PP703, we will review the principles of genomics techniques and new developments in the field. We will also have guest lectures by faculty members whose research specifically involves genomics and bioinformatics agricultural applications in order to show how these technologies are used. PP703 is part of the course requirement list for the Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (PMBB) Graduate Program at OSU.
